Global Call for Tang Poetry Creations by Young People Underway

唐诗是刻在中国人基因里的文化密码，但它的价值绝不仅属于历史，更属于未来和全人类。作为西安建设“唐诗之都”文化战略的重要组成部分，2026年1月，“千秋存知己 天涯若比邻——‘我和唐诗有个AI’全球青少年短视频征集活动”在西安正式启动。活动由阳光报社主办、“少年家国信”教育新媒体平台承办，31家单位协办，126所高校及中小学积极响应参与。

Tang poetry is a cultural code embedded in the genes of the Chinese people—yet its value belongs not only to history, but also to the future and to humanity as a whole. As a key component of Xi’an’s cultural strategy to establish itself as the “City of Tang Poetry,” the global youth short-video campaign “A True Friend Remains Close at Heart, Though Miles Apart: Me, Tang Poetry, and AI” was officially launched in the ancient capital in January 2026. The campaign is hosted by Yangguang News, organized by the educational new media platform “Youth and Homeland Letters,” and co-organized by 31 partner institutions, with 126 universities, primary and secondary schools across China actively participating.

半年多来，活动已收到百余条充满创意与热情的短视频作品。海外传播矩阵同样捷报频传，TikTok、YouTube账号海外影响力持续攀升，20余条优秀作品在海外平台浏览量突破10万大关，截至9月，海外总浏览量累计已近600万人次，真正实现了“天涯若比邻”的诗意共鸣。

Over the past six months, the campaign has received over one hundred short-video entries brimming with creativity and enthusiasm. Its international outreach has also delivered encouraging results: the campaign’s TikTok and YouTube accounts have continued to expand their overseas influence, with more than twenty outstanding entries each surpassing 100,000 views on international platforms. ‌As of September, total overseas views had approached 6 million—a true realization of the poetic resonance that “a true friend remains close at heart, though miles apart.”

如今，新一轮创作浪潮已拉开帷幕。本次活动以唐诗为根、以当代创意为叶，重点面向全球青少年征集“新唐诗”（仿唐诗）创作优秀作品，入选稿件将汇编为中英双语图书《少年与唐诗的N种可能——全球青少年唐诗创作集》，面向海内外公开发行，核心期待是“让外国面孔成为唐诗的主角”。

Now, a new wave of creativity has begun. Rooted in Tang poetry and branching out through contemporary imagination, this phase of the campaign invites young people around the world to submit their original “new Tang poetry”—works modeled on the classical Tang style. Selected pieces will be compiled into a bilingual Chinese-English collection titled Endless Possibilities Between Young People and Tang Poetry: A Global Collection of Tang Poetry Creations, to be published and distributed both in China and overseas. At the heart of this initiative lies a single aspiration: to let faces from around the world become the protagonists of Tang poetry.

在已开展的“千秋存知己 天涯若比邻——‘我和唐诗有个AI’全球青少年短视频征集活动”中，不少青少年创作者已用AI让唐诗“活”了起来。

In the first phase of the campaign, many young creators have already used AI to bring Tang poetry to life.

西安高新一中实验中学高一（8）班钟译同学被李白笔下雄奇险峻的蜀地风光打动，用AI将《蜀道难》化为壮阔影像。他向海外朋友热情分享道：“短短几句诗，就写尽蜀道之险、山川之奇，我想把这份震撼变成看得见的风景。《蜀道难》里藏着中国的大好河山，透过唐诗，你能看见一个气象万千的中国。”

Zhong Yi, a Grade 10 student from Class 8 at Xi’an Gaoxin No.1 Experimental High School, was deeply moved by the magnificent and perilous landscapes of Sichuan depicted in Li Bai’s Hard Is the Way to Shu. Using AI, he transformed the poem into a grand visual spectacle. Sharing his work enthusiastically with friends overseas, he said: “In just a few lines, the poem captures the dangers of the road to Shu and the extraordinary beauty of its mountains and rivers. I wanted to turn that awe-inspiring feeling into images that people could actually see. Hard Is the Way to Shu contains the grandeur of China’s natural landscape. Through Tang poetry, you can see a China of boundless diversity and vitality.”

高二（1）班徐梓赫、杨一凡同学则将创作目光投向大唐边塞，用AI创作《走马川行奉送封大夫出师西征》，用视频还原戍边将士不畏艰险、坚守家国的动人场景。面向海外同龄人，杨一凡真诚推荐道：“以前读诗只懂字面意思，现在真正走进了将士们的生活与心境。这首诗没有华丽的辞藻，却藏着中国人最朴素的家国情怀。”

Xu Zihe and Yang Yifan, both Grade 11 students from Class 1, turned their creative attention to the frontier regions of the Tang Dynasty. Using AI, they produced Song of the Running Horse River in Farewell to General Feng on His Western Expedition, recreating through video the moving scenes of border soldiers braving harsh conditions with unwavering resolve to defend their homeland. Speaking sincerely to peers overseas, Yang Yifan said: “In the past, when I read poetry, I only understood its literal meaning. This time, I truly stepped into the lives and inner world of the soldiers. The poem does not use ornate language, yet it embodies the Chinese people’s most simple and profound devotion to their country.”

这一次，我们希望打破以往的视角，把舞台的聚光灯交给世界。本次征稿的核心期待是：让外国面孔成为唐诗的主角。

This time, we hope to break away from conventional perspectives and place the global spotlight center stage. The central aspiration of this call for submissions is let faces from around the world become the protagonists of Tang poetry.

我们鼓励大家发挥天马行空的想象力，由中国学生想象并塑造“外国诗人”的形象。你可以试着这样去想：如果一位金发碧眼的诗人，在塞纳河畔读到“低头思故乡”，他脑海中浮现的会是怎样的景象？如果一位穿着苏格兰裙的勇士，在风笛声中念起“黄沙百战穿金甲”，那又会是怎样一种跨越千年的铁血共鸣？

We encourage young creators to unleash their imagination: Chinese students are invited to envision and portray the image of a “foreign poet.” Imagine, for instance, a blue-eyed, blond-haired poet reading the line “I bow my head and think of my homeland” by the banks of the Seine—what scene would arise in his or her mind? Or a warrior in a Scottish kilt reciting “After a hundred battles, the yellow sands have worn through their armor” to the sound of bagpipes—what kind of fierce yet poignant resonance across a thousand years and thousands of miles would that evoke?

创作不设限，文化任交融。用AI生成拥有外国面孔的“虚拟诗人”来讲述唐诗故事，都是我们最期待的创意。我们鼓励使用AI技术辅助创作与翻译，只要主角是“世界的面孔”，只要情感是“人类的共鸣”，你的作品就是最独特的唐诗新表达！

Creativity knows no bounds, and cultures are free to intertwine. Whether you use AI to generate “virtual poets” with international faces to tell Tang poetry stories—any form of creative expression is welcome. We encourage the use of AI tools for both composition and translation. As long as your protagonist carries “a face from around the world” and your emotions strike “a chord shared by all of humanity,” your work will be a uniquely fresh expression of Tang poetry for our time.

About the Campaign

西安，古称长安，是唐诗诞生与繁荣的核心腹地。2025年8月，西安市明确提出“唐诗之都”文化发展战略，推动唐诗文化的创造性转化与创新性发展。本次活动正是这一战略框架下，面向全球青少年推出的重点文化项目之一。

活动由阳光报社于2026年1月在西安发起，旨在借助人工智能技术，鼓励全球青少年以短视频和诗歌创作为载体，重新诠释唐诗的当代价值，推动中华优秀传统文化的国际传播与跨文化交流。启动以来，已获得陕西出版界、教育界及多所文化机构的广泛支持。

Xi’an, known as Chang’an in ancient times, was the heartland where Tang poetry was born and flourished. In August 2025, the city formally unveiled its “City of Tang Poetry” cultural development strategy, aiming to promote the creative transformation and innovative evolution of Tang poetry culture. This campaign is one of the flagship projects launched under this strategic framework, specifically designed to engage young people worldwide.

The campaign was initiated by Yangguang News in Xi’an in January 2026, with the goal of harnessing artificial intelligence to encourage young people around the globe to reinterpret the contemporary value of Tang poetry through short videos and poetic creation, thereby fostering international cultural exchange and the global dissemination of China’s outstanding traditional culture. Since its launch, the campaign has received broad support from Shaanxi Province’s publishing and education sectors, as well as numerous cultural institutions.

核心内容 Core content:所有作品必须围绕唐诗展开。All works must center on Tang poetry.

标注清晰 Clear labeling: 仿写须注明原诗出处；AI辅助须标注工具名称。Works modeled on existing poems must cite the original source; AI-assisted works must identify the AI tools used.

原创声明 Originality:严禁抄袭，鼓励真实创作与适度创新。Plagiarism is strictly prohibited. Authentic creation and appropriate innovation are encouraged.

提交格式 Format:视频形式，横竖屏均可。Video entries only; both landscape and portrait orientations are accepted.
